I am happy to report that I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Camp Blogaway! Meeting fellow bloggers, mingling with brand sponsors, and spending some much need time doing some solo traveling has me motivated and inspired for what the future of my blogging career might look like.
I will admit that I was pretty nervous....flying across the country, grabbing a rental car, driving through CRAZY Los Angeles traffic, all in hopes of reaching my final destination, Camp De Benneville Pines, in one piece. Once I hit the San Bernadino National Forest, I knew I was getting close.
As soon as I arrived at the camp, I was finally able to take a deep breath and settle into relaxation mode. I met my bunk-mates, Taryn from Phoenix Bites and Sara from My Imperfect Kitchen, and then camp officially started off with a Welcome by our fearless leader, Patti Londre from Worth the Whisk. Highlights of the evening included trying out some innovative Wilton products, sipping Wente wines, and snacking on some super tasty Cabot cheeses. And then, this East Coast girl was ready to crash from pure exhaustion.
Saturday morning started out with fresh air and sneakers as I headed out on a scenic power-walk, sponsored by Mann Packing (you must try their sugar snap peas, my kids eat them like candy!) I had a very enjoyable conversation with Beth from OMG Yummy, when she shared how her family has helped her grow her blog over the years. I can only hope that someday I am able to say the same.
Thinking back over the wealth of information and knowledge that was presented over the weekend, I would say that my key take-away was the Natural Light Photo Workshop, put on by Christina at MDR Photography Classes. I am looking forward to upgrading to a fancy new camera in the very near future, and really working on my food styling and presentation skills.
One of my main goals in going to Camp Blogaway was to make some new blogger friends. Mission accomplished!
From left to right: Lisa from Healthy Nibbles and Bits, Jen from Awesome Food, Tia from Desert Healthy, Hailey from California Almonds, Yours Truly, and Vickie from Culinary Vixen...ladies, it was an absolute pleasure meeting and getting to know you! I hope to see you all next year!
And, no visit to California would be complete without some time spent with my best friend Christine. Here we are tasting some delicious wines at Justin Winery in Paso Robles. Needless to say, I am missing California and am looking forward to my next trip. Cheers!
